Journal 2084: Extra Rice Please
edited by: Gelai Alera
A vacation will never be complete without food trip! So, I
walked across the place to look for something to try eating. The meals around
Sagada cost from P140 to P200 per plate, ranging from savory silog varieties to sizzling-plate
dishes. My brunch was great—thanks to the cute Siberian dogs roaming around the
restaurant and the breezy weather that suited the newly cooked rice and meat.

After arriving in Sagada, checked in to an inn, I went straight to this slabhouse for my Brunch. |
I
also tried the specialty of the famous Yoghurt
House—banana granola and strawberry preserves with yoghurt! The sweetness
of the crushed strawberry matched the sourness of the yoghurt, with extra pinipig sprinkled on top that made it more
enjoyable in every bite.

The best way to enjoy the rest of my rainy Monday afternoon is to eat a dessert in their veranda! |
I also came by the notable Gaia Café, where the movie That
Thing Called Tadhana was filmed. It opens at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m.
and I am pretty sure that you’ll definitely include in your itinerary to try
their best-selling vegetarian adobo
and tomato onion pasta. I also tried the peanut butter banana sandwich with
matching hot chocolate drink served with muscovado
sugar, which was one hundred percent delicious and perfect for a great view and
cold weather.

I got too early at Gaia Cafe. Very unique and crafty inside and out. |

Peanut butter- banana sandwich. my love. |
I also stopped by the Sagada Lemon Pie House to taste their
distinguished lemon pie! You could actually feel a bit of sourness of lemon that
matched the soft and saggy sweet peaks on it. I ate fried chicken as my lunch
on my third day.

Prices range from P150-P200, with their menus good for all times- breakfast, lunch and dinner- so you can stay hear as long as you want! |
By the way, special
thanks to Isabelo’s Inn for including a free breakfast meal to my lodging!
Their sulit rice and savory ulam partners were totally perfect to
start up my morning. I had a homemade longganisa
with sunny-side up egg on my second day, sweet tocino with tomato and cucumber on my third day, and ham and
cheese-filled omelet on my fourth day.
 |
Their home-made longganisas are definitely worth a try! |
 |
The most affordable lunch of all! For just P50.00- perfect for a cold weather! (above)

For those who enjoy having some drinks with reggae music played around, Moon House is for you! |
I was overwhelmed with the variety of food
there in Sagada and surely it won’t be a problem to you to look for a place to
eat, rather it would be a problem to you which one to try because you’ll
definitely want to try every restaurant and bistro house at each corner of
Sagada. It seems like every single food is a taste of heaven and splendor.
